What Is a Child Life Specialist?
A child life specialist is a trained healthcare professional who supports children and families through challenging life events, including medical procedures, hospitalization, trauma, grief, and other stressful experiences.
Using evidence-based techniques like therapeutic play, age-appropriate education, and emotional support, they help children understand what’s happening, express their feelings, and build healthy coping strategies.
They act as a bridge between families and care teams—advocating for emotional well-being and reducing fear and confusion during illness or crisis.

Meet Rose RECE, CCLS
Our Child Life Specialist
Licences: Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP), The College of Early Childhood Educators.
I am Rose, I create a space for us to adapt a play based normalized approach for kids and teens to feel safe and in control when navigating life and creating coping strategies. This play based child led approach to therapy helps both the child and I can learn about one another and create a rapport that fosters communication, trust and builds resilience all while enjoying the many values of play. I believe it is important to feel supported when engaging in communication about challenging life events, feelings, diagnosis and more. Using play, we can help normalize talking about our challenges and minimize any
hierarchy throughout. In fostering meaningful connections and conversations, I help guide clients into building a coping plan that works for them using a multitude of communication strategies and more. We cultivate strategies to help us manage and work through difficult situations in a healthy and positive manner while validating that these experiences for some are challenging. This approach has a goal of providing autonomy and building resilience both withing and beyond session for personal growth and the holistic well-being of the clients.
Child Life Services
What We Do:
We support children (0-18 years old) and families through life’s toughest moments—with compassion, clarity, and care. As certified child life specialists, we help children make sense of stressful experiences such as medical procedures, illness, grief, trauma, developmental delays or major life transitions. Through play-based interventions, emotional support, and age-appropriate education, we give children the tools they need to express themselves, reduce fear, and build resilience.
Whether your child is facing a hospital stay, a new diagnosis, or the loss of a loved one, we provide personalized support in a calm, child-centered space. We also guide parents and caregivers on how to talk about difficult topics, helping the whole family feel more prepared and connected.
Our goal is simple: to help children feel safe, understood, and empowered—no matter what they’re going through.
